The Waynesboro Area YMCA is excited to announce the addition of a NuStep T6 Series Recumbent Cross Trainer, expanding accessible fitness opportunities for older adults, individuals with mobility limitations, and those seeking a safe, low-impact way to stay active.

The new equipment was made possible through a $8,648.27 Franklin County Senior Community Grant, funded by the John H. Shook Foundation and administered by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation. This generous investment helps the YMCA continue its mission of providing inclusive wellness opportunities that strengthen the health of our community.

Unlike traditional cardio equipment, the NuStep is designed with accessibility in mind. Its recumbent design, supportive seating, and full-body motion make it an excellent option for individuals recovering from injury or surgery, managing chronic conditions, or looking for a comfortable way to improve cardiovascular health. By expanding adaptive fitness options, the YMCA is ensuring that more community members can exercise safely regardless of their fitness level or physical limitations.

To celebrate the arrival of the NuStep, the YMCA will launch its Ride into Wellness Challenge. Inspired by the success of the YMCA’s popular 100-Mile Swim Challenge, participants will have until November 30 to complete 50,000 steps or 10 hours to earn a free t-shirt. Riders will track their progress in the Wellness Center.

The Waynesboro Area YMCA extends its sincere gratitude to the Franklin County Senior Community Grant Program, the John H. Shook Foundation, and the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation for making this project possible.

We invite you to stop by the Waynesboro Area YMCA to learn more about the NuStep and join us as we Ride into Wellness this fall.
